The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, talked in Bratislava with the Vice President of the National Council of Slovakia, Milan Laurenčik. The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations are extremely good, without open issues, and said that they are clearly committed to maintaining the dynamics of political dialogue at all levels. Minister Selaković pointed out that we are proud of the relations between Serbia and Slovakia, which, given their duration, are friendly and fraternal. He added that because of such a history, we have an obligation to maintain and improve relations. The head of Serbian diplomacy underlined that EU membership is an absolute foreign policy priority of Serbia, thanking Slovakia for the strong support it provides us along the way. The Minister especially thanked Slovakia for its principled position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and the support we receive from it in international organizations, expressing satisfaction that he also received assurances during the meetings in Bratislava that friendly Slovakia will remain with its firm position. Selaković pointed out that the two countries should use the opportunities for deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation, especially during the next year, when we will mark the jubilee of our diplomatic relations. He proposed holding an online meeting of the two foreign policy committees of the parliaments. According to the Minister, economic cooperation does not follow the exceptional level of our overall relations, and he said that it is necessary to work together on its intensification. In that regard, he positively assessed that a session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation will be held in Bratislava next month. 28 October 2021 |
