This year we will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Death of King Petar I Karađorđević of Serbia (11 July 1844 – 16 August 1921). Slovak NGO Servare et Manere, with President M Marek Sobola Ph.D. together with the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Slovak Republic will honour this important anniversary. Under the command of King Petar I, Slovaks and Czechs fought during World War I in the 1st Serbian Volunteer Division.
We will commemorate his memory and also the memory of Serbian soldiers by planting the Trees of Peace. The suitable place for planting will be the Serbian military cemetery in Veľký Meder, a town in the south of Slovakia, where more than 6000 Serbian soldiers are buried.
The event called “Centenary of the Death of King Peter I Karađorđević of Serbia” and the planting ceremony of the Tree of Peace, will take place on August 16, 2021 on the Serbian military cemetery in Veľký Meder. The event will take place under the Royal Patronage of HRH Alexander.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia H.E. Mr Momčilo Babić will participate at the event.
