The President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić participated in the 18th Central Europe Summit of Heads of State that was held in Bratislava on June 12th and 13th. The President of the Slovak republic Ivan Gašparovič and the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy gave opening remarks which were followed by a concert at the Slovak Philharmonic. The second day of the Summit opened with plenary session “Growth Strategy for Post-Crisis Recovery – the role of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe” where presidents expressed their views on stabilization measures in Europe and possibilities for furthering cooperation between states, regional stability, relations with the countries of the Western Balkans and the EU enlargement process. In his speech President Nikolić invited the participants to support Serbia’s European integration path. At the same time, he called for constructiveness in finding a solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
